Will Charges

We are able to prepare the majority of Wills on a fixed fee basis, the prices for which are set out below.

Tier 1: Standard Will

Our most straightforward legally binding Will for individuals and families.

Single £400 + VAT (£480 including VAT)
Mirror Wills for Couples £450 + VAT (£540 including VAT)


Codicil: if you require a small amendment to an existing Will please ask us for a quote as we may be able to prepare this for less than our Standard Will fee.

Tier 2: Trust Will

These Wills can deal very effectively with a wide range of common issues including disabled or vulnerable beneficiaries, second families, and mitigate risks around care fees.

Property Protection Trust Will

Single £550 + VAT (£660 including VAT)
Mirror Wills for Couples £650 + VAT (£780 including VAT)


Discretionary Trust Wills
Life Interest Trust Wills
Nil Rate Band Trust Wills

Single £750 + VAT (£900 including VAT)
Mirror Wills for Couples £850 + VAT (£1,020 including VAT)


Tier 3: Specialist Will

Succession planning for farmers, business owners or those with large or complex estates is vital and plays a key part in making the most of available tax reliefs, reducing the likelihood of disputes after death, and ensuring the estate can be passed on to successive generations.

Specialist Wills for Farmers or Business Owners

Single/ Mirror Wills for Couples £1,000-£2,800 + VAT (£1,200 - £3,360 including VAT)


Bespoke

We offer a bespoke hourly rate service to meet your requirements if your estate or family circumstances are complex or if you require detailed advice about matters such as lifetime gifts, inheritance tax or the possibility of a claim being made against an estate. Hourly rates vary depending on the experience of the Will drafter and range up to £325 + VAT.
 

Wills: Scope Of Work

Tier 1: Standard Will

What’s included?
1. Initial consultation to discuss your family, your assets and wishes for how your estate should be distributed under your Will.
2. Preparation of a draft Will which includes:
2.1. An appointment of executors to carry out the terms of your Will.
2.2. An appointment of guardians for any children under 18, if required by you.
2.3. Provision for funeral wishes, if required by you.
2.4. Any specifics gifts or legacies of money, personal belongings or property to particular beneficiaries which you wish to make.
2.5. Provision dealing with the remainder of your estate (other than any items specifically gifted) and any intended beneficiaries and any substitute beneficiaries.
3. Letter explaining the important provisions within the Will, together with general inheritance tax advice.
4. Discussing any changes or amendments which you require, if any.
5. Meeting with you to discuss and oversee the correct signing of your Will, or, at your request, sending the signature copy to you at home to sign together with signing instructions.
6. Safe storage of your original Will at our office free of any ongoing charge.

What’s not included?
1. Tax issues including inheritance tax advice specific to your circumstances.
2. Advice about potential claims against your estate.
3. Advice about care fees and care fee mitigation.
4. Advice about foreign assets, business assets or farming assets in relation to your Will.
5. Life insurance and pensions.
6. Any issues relating to mental capacity.
7. Trusts, including rights of occupation, property protection trusts or charitable trusts.
8. Advice about inheritance for disabled or vulnerable beneficiaries.
9. Anything else not identified in the section ‘What’s included’ above.

Tier 2: Trust Will

What’s included?
Everything included in our Standard Will service, plus:
1. Advice about a Will Trust which may be suitable for your circumstances, such as a property protection trust, life interest trust, or discretionary trust, as applicable.
2. Advice about inheritance for disabled or vulnerable beneficiaries, if applicable.
3. Advice about care fee mitigation, if applicable.
4. Preparation of a draft Will incorporating a suitable Will Trust to meet with your requirements.
5. Calculation of your potential exposure to inheritance tax, if required by you.

What’s not included?
1. Tax issues other than calculation of exposure to inheritance tax as set out above.
2. Detailed advice on the steps you could take in your lifetime to mitigate your inheritance tax exposure on death, and implementation of any lifetime tax planning.
3. Advice about potential claims against your estate.
4. Advice about foreign assets, business assets or farming assets in relation to your Will.
5. Life insurance and pensions.
6. Any issues relating to mental capacity.
7. Anything else not identified in the section ‘What’s included’ above.;

Tier 3: Specialist Will

What’s included?
Everything included in our Standard Will service and Trust Will service, plus:
1. Specific advice in relation to any business, farming, or foreign assets, or foreign domicile, in relation to your Will and Estate Planning and the preparation of a Will which accommodates your requirements in this regard.
2. Advice about potential claims against your estate, if required by you.
3. Advice and considerations relating to mental capacity, if required.
4. Detailed and specific inheritance tax advice and the steps you may take by way of lifetime planning to mitigate your exposure to inheritance tax.

What’s not included?
1. Tax issues other than inheritance tax.
2. Anything else not identified in the section ‘What’s included’ above.
